Vydehi
Chandrashekhar is a multifaceted
personality with her creative skills
spreading wings across various fields.
From her on-screen presence on television
to that of interior designing and now
foraying into saree designing, she is
a woman of diverse artistic talent and
extreme aesthetic sense.
Vydehi
is a well-known television personality.
She started newsreading on the national
channel Doordarshan, during its prime
years. Though it was an accidental venture
into newsreading, as she claims, she
posed an excellent media presence and
it only got better as time passed. For
an arts student, designing is not a
difficult choice and Vydehi
entered the realms of interior designing
a decade ago. She has the ability and
the vast experience of designing houses,commercial
spaces, studios according to the customized
preferences of her clients who include
famous film personalities as well.
Her varied interests and creative brain
have led her to start designing sarees
as well. Unlike her entry into television,
this has been a planned venture as she
puts it. Though her access to saree
designing has been only recent, the
roots date back to her childhood when
she had a fancy for her mother’s
sarees. She credits her success to encouragement
from her mother, mother-in-law, her
husband and her two children. Without
their support, says she, her efforts
would have been incomplete.
The concept of Vy
Sarees originated when Vydehi
started receiving appreciation for sarees
that she designed for herself. Other
reasons that laid foundation for her
professional entry include her passion
towards fine designs and patterns, love
for ethnic and traditional wear, more
importantly the grace that an Indian
woman portrays in the totally Indian
possession, the glorious saree! The
ethnicity of the saree, more so, the
aura that a Kancheepuram pattu (silk)
saree creates and influences an Indian
woman is mind blowing. Vydehi
has captured that string and exploited
ways in which Kancheepuram pattu (silk)
sarees can be made more alluring, enchanting,
enriching and captivating!
